We recently hosted a threadlifting course at the new space. The company behind MINT (Minimally Invasive Nonsurgical Threads) was there to showcase their products and Dr.Eunice Park led the didactics. We had eight wonderful model patients who underwent various procedures with threads.
Threadlifting is meant to be a non-surgical facelift option. Under local anesthesia, and in under an hour, you can walk away with a more rejuvenated, lifted appearance. Results can last 1-2 years.
Originally, threads were made from permanent materials that would stay in the body forever and cause various problems. Now, threads are almost exclusively made from regular absorbable suture material which is FDA approved. The threads last from 6-9 months and as they dissolve they promote some degree of fibrosis which maintains its effect.
The results are not as impressive as a surgical facelift done well, but patient satisfaction is high and most do see noticeable changes that last as long as fillers. Some drawbacks are the possibility of dimpling, migration of threads, and infection, which are relatively rare. Downtime is minimal, though swelling and bruising are possible for several days.
The patient’s cost is $800-$4000, depending on the areas being treated and number of threads. Threadlifting needs to be weighed against other non-surgical neck and face lifting options, such as neurotoxin, filler, and energy devices (ie Ulthera, Profound, FaceTite), as well as numerous surgical approaches.
